Day of Infamy : The day the Japanese attacked pearl Harbor, just before the start of World War II, President Roosevelt called it "a day the will live in infamy." which means something like a day that will be famous but will be bad.
The events of Pearl Harbor was what led to the Unites States entry in the war. In 1941, Hawaii's Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese. Japan sent six aircraft carriers with fighter planes, bombers, and torpedo planes which damaged all of the eight U.S. Navy battleships and suck four of them. They sunk twelve ships, one hundred eighty eight aircraft, and wounded 1178, killing 2,403 Americans. The day after this event the United Stated declared war on Japan, then Germany and Italy declared war onto the U.S., which the U.S. declared right back onto them. During this time Franklin D Roosevelt was the president, he described December 7, 1941 as "a date which will live in infamy". It is a day that we still remember, there are movies, books and museums dedicated to this war crime event.
